About Me

My name is Rebecca, and calligraphy is my side business but something that I truly enjoy.  I was the Assistant Director of a non-profit agency in New York City.  Part of this job required a lot of work in planning events and fundraisers.  At our annual business leadership dinner, I worked with a calligrapher for the place cards.  I was impressed and also intrigued with the craft.

I wanted to encourage this interest by taking a class.  I took my first course, Italic, through a professional organization here in New York – the Society of Scribes, www.societyofscribes.org.  I really liked the work and offered to do a friend’s wedding for free, and the business was started!
